Remedial therapy is based on the concept of assessing a child to establish where in his/her school career and/or pre-primary period the learning problem started and in which subject area the problem might lie. Thereafter a unique individual programme is designed for the child in which the problem areas are the main focus point in order to overcome the problem area.
Remedial therapy consists of all actions that lend learning support to learners in reading, spelling, writing and mathematics. This includes the development of vocabulary, reading strategies, knowledge of spelling rules, understanding of what is read as well as writing skills.
Remedial therapy addresses the problem area from where it originated and then re-establishes the core fundamentals to ensure the child overcomes the problem area and enjoys a successful school career.
Learners (Gr. 1-6) receive remedial therapy individually or in small groups (2-4 learners), twice a week. All learners' (Gr. 1-6) progress in spelling, reading and mathematics are assessed on a yearly basis.
Multi-disciplinary team approach ensures close observation of learners' progress.
